VIREB’s legacy gift to post-secondary education on Vancouver Island has paid its first dividends. Three students from North Island College (NIC) received the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board / Real Estate Foundation of BC (REFBC) Bursary during an awards ceremony September 13th. The bursaries were funded by a $60,000 donation made by VIREB and the REFBC which had been given to NIC (with an identical sum donated to Vancouver Island University) as part of VIREB’s 60 th Anniversary celebrations last year. Comox Valley Board Director Corey Zaal and Darrell Paysen, VIREB’s Manager of Member Services presented the awards during the NIC Foundation Awards Ceremony held at the college’s Comox Valley Campus in Courtenay. Students Nicholas Lade, Lane Pearson and Candace Pisto were the inaugural winners of the award. The bursaries have been created for outstanding students enrolled in Business Administration, Construction-Related Trades or Apprenticeship programs. The presentation is the first of what will become an annual event for the college and VIREB.
