At its September 19th meeting in Duncan the VIREB Board of Directors authorized a donation in the thousands of dollars to the Tour de Rock, which will be presented when the police cycling group makes a stopover at the VIREB office October 1st. The actual amount of the donation is being kept secret as, in addition to the Board-authorized funds, it is hoped individual REALTORS® make personal donations that can be added to the VIREB ‘Big Cheque’ total. The Tour de Rock is to stop at VIREB as part of its 1,000 kilometer journey down the length of Vancouver Island which has been organized as a fund raiser for children’s cancer research. VIREB also hopes as many REALTORS® as possible will be in attendance to take part in this unique event, starting at 10:00 am. One of the Canadian Cancer Society’s main fundraisers, this cavalcade of police officers and others has been held annually since 1998 and has raised nearly $17 million for children’s cancer research since its inception. This year’s event is a great opportunity for VIREB and its member REALTORS® to make a real difference in the lives of people across the province.
