The monthly statistics released by the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) always contain a few unique nuggets of information. While residential single family home sales indicated a 14 percent drop from February 2012, the sale of townhouse units was actually up 28 percent year to year. Full duplex sales were also up 50 percent (when comparing February to February) and bare land lot sales were up 15 percent. Total board-wide sales of all types for February were pegged at 448 with a value of just over $132 million. Total property sales of all types so far this year across the VIREB coverage area is listed at more than $232 million. As of the end of February there were 7,871 listings on the VIREB MLS® system which is virtually identical to what it was at the end of February 2012.
