With around 1,100 REALTOR® members, supporting ongoing government lobbying is a priority of the VIREB Board of Directors. This includes working with municipal, provincial and the federal government on behalf of its REALTOR® members.

VIREB works with the Federal Affairs staff of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), as well as the Government Relations department of the BC Real Estate Association (BCREA) and various municipal representatives.

In 2007, VIREB won a PAC Team Award from CREA, for its political activities.

Ongoing activities include:

  • Monitoring and coordinating municipal/provincial/federal issues for media comment and communicating internally to members.
  • CREA PAC (Political Action Committee) Days in Ottawa
  • Delivering annual PAC issue papers to area MPs in local constituencies.
  • BCREA GL Days in Victoria (provincial government liaison)
  • Delivering BCREA issue papers to area MLAs in local constituencies.
  • Federal and provincial pre-budget submission process.
  • Monitoring municipal issues for response.
  • Organizing all candidates meetings during elections.
