COWICHAN VALLEY
The Cowichan Valley Regional District is located on the southern part of Vancouver Island. Cowichan takes its name from “Quw’utsun,” the name given to the valley by its original inhabitants, the Quw’utsun people. The region boasts Canada’s only maritime Mediterranean climatic zone and is home to the warmest year-round temperatures in the country. The moderate climate has given birth to excellent artisanal food and drink from the region’s many farms, wineries, cideries and distilleries. The Cowichan Valley is home to many beautiful communities, including Chemainus, Duncan, and Ladysmith.
