The first academic dividends from VIREB’s $60,000 bursary to North Island College (NIC) will be paid tomorrow night (Sept. 13) in Courtenay. Established in partnership with the Real Estate Foundation of BC, VIREB set up the North Island College bursary along with an identical one with Vancouver Island University as part of its 60 th Anniversary celebrations in 2011. Created to be an ongoing legacy for North Island College, interest generated by the endowment will be used to provide three NIC students with scholarships for the coming year. Darrell Paysen, Manager of Member Services along with Board Directors Corey Zaal and Heather Parker, will be at the Stan Hagen Theatre on the NIC’s Comox Valley Campus to take part in the awards ceremony.
