More than $900 was raised for local charities during a REALTOR® Christmas Luncheon held in Courtenay December 11. Held at the Prime Chophouse and Grill, the annual get together saw about 70 REALTORS® in attendance. An opportunity to meet and mingle with peers, the end of year celebration also saw $780 being raised for YANA (You Are Not Alone) and $130 for the local Salvation Army Food Bank. In addition a large quantity of non-perishable food items were also donated by the attendees. “We collected through a 50/50 draw, raffle (with items being donated by local industry professionals such as building inspectors and lawyers) and with a photo shoot with Santa,” explained Zone Director Corey Zaal. “Santa’s time was donated courtesy of Comox Valley Home Tours, while Royal LePage’s Lyle Larsen substituted for the real Santa who busy elsewhere.” YANA is a Comox Valley organization that helps local families who need to travel to access medical treatment for their children outside of the region. The fund raising and social event was, as always, viewed as a positive way to help wrap up the business year.
