McGuire Receives Medal

Long time Coast Realty REALTOR® Bill McGuire received royal recognition for his years of service to the community December 14, as he was one of four recipients of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal. Nanaimo MLA Leonard Krog made the presentation during a special ceremony held at the Coast Bastion Inn. McGuire is known for his tireless efforts on behalf of the Nanaimo Marine Festival which was former known as the Nanaimo Bathtub Race. A panel of local residents received nominations from throughout the region before selecting McGuire and three others for this prestigious honor – a medal for community service struck in honor of Queen Elizabeth’s 60th year on the throne.
